This listing is for a pair of signed elegant sculptures made by Italian artist Arnaldo Giannelli. The woman and man are intricately carved and the attention to detail is magnificent. In excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Both are mounted on black marble stone. Felt pads on bottoms to prevent scratching. Signature on bottom backside of woman figurine. Purchased from an estate sale. Made in Italy.
The artist, A. Giannelli, Born in Volterra, in 1907, was a keen student of sculpture and graduated from the Royal School of Art. In 1944 he opened his own studio and produced pieces also for the Allied Forces. He was an Italian master sculpture and the president of the "Alabaster Craftsman Guild" from 1953 until 1961.
